Rescheduling A Game

How do you reschedule a game?

BEFORE The Season Starts…

If you know when you sign up to HEAD Coach that you will miss a game because of planned team event or wok trip please ask to not play that weekend in advanced of the schedules being written. Unacceptable reasons: the sun is shining and you want to go to the beach. You can do make this request by contacting the field coordinator.

If you are the HEAD coach only of more than 1 teams then please make sure to send this information to the field coordinator too. They will let the SWYSA scheduler know this information and it will help avoid being double booked for games. However, it is strongly encouraged and recommended to always roster an assistant coach at the beginning of each season just in case. We do NOT take these requests from assistant coaches!

After Your Season Starts and Schedules are POSTED…

After the season has started and you discover a problem, you need to reschedule the game by following these steps. First, contact the opposing coach, check the schedule page for the coach’s contact information. The other team must say yes for the change to take place. It is always best when contacting the other coach to give a few options of when you could reschedule the game. The coach of the home team will then contact the field coordinator of their club by copying in them in the email from the other coach. When doing this please present the agreed upon dates and times for the reschedule to see if there is available field time. Once everything is lined up the field coordinator will get SWYSA to change the game, cancel referees and request new referees.

QUESTIONS? On the Above information please contact the field coordinator.

Do not fail to show up for a game. If you fail to show up for a game, it is considered a forfeit. If after 15 minutes either team cannot field a minimum of 7 players (except modified teams U6 to U11), the referee will call the game abandoned. Abandoned games fall under these rules: no replay will be granted if it is of the fault of the coach, players, or team’s spectators. The opposing team will be awarded the win at a score of 1-0 unless the referee determines that both teams are at fault and then a score of zero for each team is given. It is your responsibility to make sure your team is on the field. If you are sick, your assistant coach should field the team, if you do not have an assistant coach you should contact the Rec Registrar well before game time to ask for assistance. It is strongly advised that you have another adult on your roster in the event of an emergency. SWYSA has implemented fines in Fall of 2019 for no show or abandoned games.

No games are cancelled and rescheduled because there is no referee assigned for the game. If there is no referee present at the time the game is to be played, then an emergency referee is to be appointed to referee the game. An emergency referee is defined as a person that both coaches agree on to be the referee for the course of the game.
